This post is increasingly troubling. For about a month, Win 10 Defender has been notifying me every few days it has detected & removed malware. When I open Defender for details, it lists either Rogue:JS/TechBrolo.A or Rogue:JS/TechBrolo.E and I find
it hasn’t actually removed the malware, but quarantined it. I don’t know what is being done when malware is “quarantined” or why Win 10 doesn’t remove it. It is compellingly recommended in Defender that I do so, but I have to check the box and click Remove.
Which I do. I’ve also scanned offline, done quick scans and one full scan, none of which bowed up anything.
Why is Win 10 quarantining but not removing it? Is there any way of indicating to Defender not to allow any file with run Rogue:JS/TechBrolo in the file name? Defender says it is a Trojan Horse kind. Since it is repeatedly directed at my PC and I assume
sits there until Defender finds and at least quarantines it, am I at risk between Defender scans? Or does “Real Time” protection mean that risk doesn’t exist?
I’m puzzled too at the file name. I would think malware would have innocuous session or highly specialist seeming names. “Rogue” and “Tech” together … might just as well name the file LethalMalware.
i have a Windows 10 Home practice with the following Windows Defender configuration:

My client says that Formulate files sent from my laptop have illness issues, but my laptop cant trace any virus
But If i run a scan on 33 files for example, the result shows that 520 files have been scanned. I do not know but the reason
Does that mean that my laptop has illness issues that cant be traced by defender? pl clarify

I was hit with a notice I had a bad illness and directed to call a position that sounded like an Indian boiler room operation. They had all Microsoft logos and screen shots and seek $180 to $300 to fix whatever was wrong. They were very hard-core salesmen
and needed to close the sale "right now." The Microsoft Defender said there was no malware on my laptop. Their IP address was wingleydock-pc-protector.com/chrm. Phone numbers 855-866-8775 and 888-976-5633. Is this a legitimate position or some form of malware? Read More
I’m running Win 10 on a 64 bit procedure and was profitably running Defender as my AV. I also use Malwarebytes and Spyware S&D for my spyware and malware protection. All was well until a few days ago when I was alerted that my Defender was not crooked on…..only
limited scanning. I ran “full” scans using all three programs and reveal some low peril malware. All was purged, but it made no difference in my attempts to circle Defender back on. I cannot find any new program or app that has been installed, so I can’t
uninstall the culprit.
My brain wave is that I have a germ that is potent Defender not to come on, so it can do some dirty exert yourself. I ran my three “anti’s” a second occasion and came up empty. I tried to change my registry values for Anti Germ and it wouldn’t allow me to. I’m out of
ideas…..anyone know what could be happening?
my Laptop Screen keeps Freezing & my only brain wave was to Uninstall everything Downloaded since I got it back from Repair where Windows 7 was Reinstalled but I tried to Remove Avast & stab with Windows Defender but was given the Error code 0x800704ec.
I am not exactly Computer savvy so any advice for a novice would be greatly appreciated?
I have daily scheduled full scan with windows defender and it does not even detect this, but when I choose a custom scan of the preload folder in recovery, it gets detected and takes a long epoch to finish completing its process, especially when either
trying to remove or quarantine it after. It only gets partially removed and an error code appears. Read More
I just wonder if I should have an extra antivirus in my laptop. Up to this moment, I relay only on Windows Defender, which has never identified any pamper in my computer. However, I am not entirely confident on it. Sometimes the computer stops effective and
behave creepy (dawdle, freezing, mouse point moves alone, programs are downloaded with out my notice, etc) Please, advise.

So now is January 9, 2017. The Recent Past, My dad bought me Asus laptop a456u with pre-installed Windows 10 Home Separate Language. So then he brought it home I curved it on. But what was quite interesting to me was the Windows Defender popped many times
presentation that my laptop has some kind of malwares like Foxif in Win32 and some trojans too. When I ran the dxdiag I found out my laptop is X456UR, not A456U, or is it the same model?, well I already checked the box and it’s on paper a456u on the marker. There
are also some bizarre pre-installed applications dated from early 2016. So what I am afraid is do these viruses are really dangerous that they can mess up my other files? I am also afraid that if I got the amiss laptop model. Read More

Is there any way to break the DAILY requests to scan? Can this be done, in the background, automatically?? I do not ride my computer off ( Desktop with secure satellite ISP ). I have alwasy used Defender, but when I updated to WIN 10 it became a pain in
the daily requests for a scan !!

I’m running Windows 7, 64-bit.
Since the December 13, 2016 Windows renovate, Windows Defender Congested updating and no Windows renovate has been added (I do not know if an renovate was posted since that date. Tuesday will be the 2nd Wednesday of the month so we will see then if Windows Renovate
is functioning properly.)
I manually downloaded the latest Windows Defender definitions files and double-clicked on the file. The hour-glass comes up, the disappears. When I go to “View Renovate History” the history shows the last definition file for Windows Defender in Dec. 13, but
the importance line at the bottom of the Windows Defender interface says the latest definitions is January 8, 2017.
When I tried to run Arrangement Restore to the pre-Dec. 13 restore point, I discovered there were NO restore points.
Can anyone explain what is going on? How can these errors be resolved?

With Windows Defender now up and running on my Windows 10 desktop, can I safely drop my AVG illness protection?
The details lie in the question itself. Put another way, my Lenovo desktop, circa 2011, was a Windows 7 computer until the conversion to Windows 10 in 2015. I exploit AVG Internet Security software for anti-disease and other protections. My question, then,
is can I expire that coverage with the presence of Windows Defender anti-disease protection now present on this computer?
I would appreciate feedback from the community on this issue.

I have a new computer and the Windows Defender illuminate me it is turned off and we cannot direct it on. Shouldn’t this be installed with Windows 10? I was trying to run a scan because a intimidation popped up when I discovered this. McAfee is also installed.
I don’t like McAfee. How do I get Windows Defender activated and then McAfee removed? Read More
I recently purchased a HP Laptop with Windows 10 Home edition on Thanks Giving Day. The Laptop was pre-installed with McAfee judgment software, worked for a month and expired. Since McAfee expired after a month of my Windows 10 Activation, I installed AVG Antivirus
free rendering in its place. However, I enabled Windows defender to protect my PC before installing the AVG Anti Germ. Since I am a Microsoft Skill Heap developer, I admired Microsoft and preferred Microsoft Products.
Two days back, that is on Jan 06, 2017, I found a perplexing behavior in my Laptop. The order was operating on its own. The key pad, link with screen and key board commands were hardly running. Immediately I disconnected my WiFi, uninstalled AVG Antivirus and
performed a full scan of my machine with Windows Defender. The Windows Defender did not detect any germ as such apparently in the film and was displaying – “PC standing: Protected” message. This schedule luckily I was able to capture the behavior using my Android
Phone. I am input those videos here for your reference using the following
A month before the Thanks Giving Day, I experienced exactly same behavior in my Nokia Windows 8.1 Phone as well. It also used to open my Contacts list and make phone calls or sometimes even disconnect the phone call I am chitchat. It used to merge the contacts.
Whenever such a behavior occurred in my phone, the device did not respond to my commands. The only option I had was to flog of the Phone and WiFi. Then after sometime same behavior used to put on view up occasionally. When the device was quiet, I tried resetting
the phone to its original factory scenery majestic. Even that attempt did not act. Soon after I logged in with my Microsoft Account, the device used to act on its own again. In fact, I tried to reset my Phone around 4 to 5 times but nothing worked. I even tried
cleaning the temporary worker data. Some times it is dormant and some times it is active. I Binged around and read few articles that Windows Phone is a Germ Proof and hence no anti germ would be available in the Windows Pile Up. But in my case, I eagerly felt that my
device was attacked and felt sad since Microsoft did not care to provide a protection to its customers. This is the reason which forced me to flog to an Android Phone and its affordability. Otherwise, I would have opted for IPhone.
Can anyone please help me resolve this issue. Will this be covered under warranty. Since, I am suspecting it as a some kind of germ attack/hack, do I need to reinstall my Laptop or return the device. I am not sure, if this attack is propagating through
Microsoft Account data sync across devices (The reason for suspecting Microsoft Account is that, the latest advancements enabled the devices to sync the addict data across devices. Since I logged into my new Laptop with same Account which I used for my old Windows
Phone, did the germ propagated using this feature) or through WhatsApp.
Thanking you in Advance.

I am running Windows 10 (home, style 1607) on a Dell Inspiron 11-3157.

Following instructions found elsewhere on this forum, I have done the following:
1. Restarted my PC, several times, including a cold boot.
2. Remove existing antivirus and antispyware software
While I’d started by uninstalling McAfee, I later ran McAfee’s helpfulness for ensuring all of their software was uninstalled. The result they claimed was that all McAfee software had been removed.
3. Scanned my PC for malwares (more than once) using Windows Defender scan (both full and ‘quick’)
4. Ran an SFC scan
Result: Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
5. Restarted Security Center Service
6. Deleted conflicting Registry Entry
Deleted MsMpEng.exe from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options.
7. Attempted to Enable Windows Defender from Group Policy
There was no registry entry named DisableAntiSpyware, in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender.
What else could I try? (There were a few other suggestions in the post I was following, but the steps above were the only ones I could take. Either the software they were directing me to uninstall had not been installed, or the instructions offered were
for a different operating routine.)
Many thanks for your help.
When Enhanced Notifications is bowed on in Windows Defender using Windows 10, what messages will you get other than the rushed-
“Windows Defender Scanned Your PC- “X” threats were found during your last scan.”
Personally, I like this mag or so notice, performance that Windows Defender is doing its job.
Suppose a disease or hazard was found with Enhanced Notifications on? How would the rushed message be different? If you service off Windows Defender Enhanced Notifications, what are you potentially not getting, other than the mag rushed message?
